Excessive sebum production is a symptom of oily skin, which has glands that are overactive. The goal of your skincare routine should be to cut down on oil production while keeping your skin healthy and moist.

1. Tidy Up

If you have oily skin, you must buy a face wash that can get rid of the extra oil on your face. You could also look for gels or foams that are clean but don't have oil in them. Sulfate-free products will help keep your skin from getting too oily and won't dry it out as much, so use them whenever you can.

2. Wash And Shine

You can use gentle exfoliants with AHA twice or three times a week, depending on how well your skin can handle it. If you'd rather use a physical scrub to get rid of blackheads, whiteheads, and clogged pores, choose a gentle product and use it once a week. But you shouldn't use walnut scrubs on your skin, especially if you have acne that is still flaring up.

3. Toning

The best way to deal with oily skin is to use a toner that doesn't contain alcohol and has things like sodium PCA, witch hazel, or geranium in it. These astringent ingredients help clean your skin and make your pores smaller without hurting or drying out your skin.

4. Moisturizing

People with oily skin often think that they don't need to moisturize, but this is not true. If your skin isn't getting enough water, your sebaceous glands may go into overdrive. This will make your skin even worse than it was before.

Try to find moisturizers that don't have oil in them. Most of the time, people with oily skin are told to use water-based gels and lotions that don't clog their pores. When you put these products on your skin, they feel light and airy. They also help your skin keep moisture and have a matte finish. If your skin is very oily, you should think about buying a good gel to keep it hydrated.

5. Sunscreen

Putting on sunscreen might not be something you look forward to if you have oily skin. But this is probably because you haven't been using the right products. Choose sunscreens with a matte finish and a gel base instead.

Adding zinc oxide-based products to your skincare routine can make a big difference in how well it works. You won't get acne if you use these products, and they will also give your skin a matte finish.
